I was sad to learn last week that Commissioner Allison Troy will be stepping down from the Board of Commissioners on May 29. Commissioner Troy has been a great colleague these past several months. She has displayed a passion for public service and an unwavering commitment to the idea that government must work fairly for all people. While she will no longer hold office, I know she will continue to fight for the important issues of our time.
Under Pennsylvania law, the Board of Commissioners has 30 days from the date of Commissioner Troy’s resignation to name a replacement who will fill the seat until the next municipal election in 2021. I have called for a transparent process to select a candidate, which should include public interviews. Ultimately, I will vote to select the candidate who I believe is best prepared to help guide Manheim Township through the difficult times we face.
I encourage anyone who is interested in the position to apply. Resumes should be submitted to Township Manager Sean P. Molchany at 1840 Municipal Drive Lancaster, PA 17601 or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Resumes will be accepted until 12 p.m. on June 10.
