Manheim Township allows refugee resettlement
The Manheim Township Board of Commissioners unanimously consented to allow refugee resettlement within the municipality at its meeting on January 13, 2020.
Commissioner Tom O'Brien said the vote sent an important message. "We're showing that Manheim Township and Lancaster County are a welcoming community," O'Brien said.
The move became necessary after President Donald Trump issued an executive order which required states and municipalities to consent to refugee resettlement.
