Commissioners call on State to end partisan gerrymandering
The Manheim Township Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution Monday supporting efforts to end partisan gerrymandering in Pennsylvania's congressional and legislative districts.
The resolution passed with bipartisan support in a 3-0 vote. Commissioners Sam Mecum, Donna DiMeo, and Tom O'Brien voted to adopt the resolution. Commissioners Al Kling and Dave Heck abstained.
By adopting the resolution, the Board of Commissioners indicated its support for "legislative efforts to secure expeditious action to make a constitutional amendment that would, among other reforms, assign the decennial task of both legislative and congressional redistricting to an independent citizens redistricting commission."
